CHICAGO, ILLONOIS – The Chicago Wolves announced today that the team has signed former Saint John Sea Dog Mathieu Corbeil.
Corbeil led the QMJHL with a career-high 37 victories and a 2.38 goals-against average, while sharing fourth in the league with a .911 save percentage in 48 outings with the Saint John Sea Dogs last season. He posted a 37-10-1 record and also ranked first in the QMJHL with six shutouts.
The 20-year-old netminder also backstopped Saint John to the QMJHL championship and a semifinal appearance in the 2012 Memorial Cup. He recorded a 18-3 mark with a 2.42 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 21 postseason matchups.
Overall, the Montreal native registered a 68-76-6 mark with a 3.25 goals-against average and .890 save percentage in 162 career QMJHL games with the Sea Dogs and the Halifax Mooseheads spanning four seasons (2008-12). He also was a part of Saint John’s 2011 Memorial Cup Championship team.
