SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs are partnering with Aeropostale for the fifth annual Teens For Jeans campaign.
The Sea Dogs will be accepting donations of jeans at Thursday’s game against the Moncton Wildcats, a 7 p.m. start at Harbour Station. Fans can donate any brand or size of gently worn jeans, which will be given to local charities that serve homeless teens.
The goal in Saint John is to collect 2,500 pairs of jeans toward as part of a North American campaign championed by Aeropostale and DoSomething.org, with a goal of 500,000 pairs continent-wide.
“Two years ago we partnered with the Sea Dogs and had our most successful year to date, bringing in 1,588 pairs. Our goal this year is to collect 2,500 pairs and we are so excited to again have the Sea Dogs on board,” said Julie Allen, manager of Aeropostale Saint John. “Our goal is quite high this year but I know that together with the Sea Dogs fans and our community support we can make this our biggest year yet.”
Fans making a donation will receive a coupon for 25 per cent off a pair of new Aero jeans at Aeropostale. Each pair of jeans donated entitles the donor to fill out a ballot to win a pair of Aero jeans signed by the Sea Dogs, which is being displayed at the Aeropostale store in McAllister Place. One lucky name will be drawn Feb. 12, with the winner taking home the one-of-a-kind pair of jeans.
“The Sea Dogs have always recognized the importance of helping those less fortunate, and our fans have shown time and time again that they support these important causes as well,” said Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. “From the Raising the Roof initiative our players and coaches took part in earlier this season to this Teens For Jeans campaign, we are always looking for ways to give back.”
